Career Center provides support for alumni
Students and alumni can readily benefit from one of the university’s most important resources for career counseling and employment opportunities. The MSU Career Center, housed in the beautifully renovated Montgomery Hall, provides services, programs and events to assist the Bulldog family’s career development needs.
Career preparation is an important aspect of the overall MSU experience. The Career Center helps students and alumni through the career development process, while providing training opportunities, online resources and events to connect Bulldogs to job opportunities across the country.
“We welcome the opportunity to work with alumni in all aspects of the job search process,” said Career Center Director Scott Maynard. “For those seeking positions, the Career Center subscribes to a software called Career Shift, a powerful job search engine allows alumni to search corporate websites by keyword and geographic area. Many alumni have seen success with this software.”
Alumni have access to the Connections online career management system, which contains information about job postings, on-campus interviews and career fairs, among other valuable resources. Job seekers can also contact a staff member for resume critique and can utilize a variety of tools found online at career.msstate.edu/students/career.
Alumni who have graduated in the last two years can also take advantage of individual appointments with Career Center staff who assist with the job search and interview process.
Maynard stated the Career Center also seeks to connect graduates with alumni who are hiring. The center is continually seeking full-time, internship or co-op opportunities for MSU students or alumni. Employers wishing to recruit at MSU can register at hireadawg.msstate.edu.
