University to participate in virtual career fair

Over 20 Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference institutions are participating in a virtual career fair April 2-4. Open to students and alumni, the opportunity will allow job seekers to interact with employers via web-based chats and video conferencing.

This is the second year Mississippi State University will participate in the virtual fair, which is organized by CareerEco, a virtual recruiting organization. Several nationally known brands will join the fair, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, IBM Global Business Services, Saks Fifth Avenue and Kellogg Company. Government recruiters from the International Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of State will also participate.

“Opportunities like the virtual career fair allow our students and alumni to interact with top employers from anywhere around the world,” stated Scott Maynard, director of the MSU Career Center. “This is especially helpful for those looking to relocate, but who may not be available to travel to another city or state to attend a local career fair.”

All majors and degrees are invited to attend the free online fair. Interested participants must register online at secacc.careereco.net. A full list of employers can been seen on the website as well. A schedule of chat sessions will be released at a later date.
