MSU rings in 2013 at Gator Bowl
Mississippi State University began the New Year in sunny Florida with events surrounding the 2013 TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. Though the Bulldogs didn’t bring home a victory against the Northwestern Wildcats, the maroon and white family enjoyed a host of events sponsored by the university.
The MSU Office of the President, Foundation, Student Association, Bulldog Club and Alumni Association sponsored a party allowing fans to come together and celebrate the Bulldog spirit in Florida. Fans enjoyed “A Bulldog New Year’s Eve” with live music and fireworks at Jacksonville Landing along the St. Johns River downtown. Earlier in the day, an MSU pep rally and the Gator Bowl parade were also held downtown.
The January 1 bowl game kicked off at EverBank Field at noon on a beautiful and sunny day. Prior to the game, Dawg Walk, a pep rally and tailgate allowed MSU alumni and friends to show their maroon and white support to the team.
