SEC commissioner to headline 2013 leadership conference

This February, the MSU Alumni Association will host representatives from chapters across the nation at the annual leadership conference. Headlining this year’s event as the keynote speaker will be Mike Slive, commissioner of the Southeastern Conference.

Held in Colvard Student Union, the February 2 conference will also feature reports from the university provost and executive vice president, Dr. Jerry Gilbert, the newly named director of University Relations, Sid Salter, as well as a number of MSU staff members and association volunteers. The National Alumni Association will also host its annual business meeting during the conference.

“The leadership conference is an excellent way for our volunteers to connect with other alumni leaders and learn best practices for organizing and running a chapter,” stated Dr. Jimmy Abraham, associate vice president for development and alumni and executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. “This annual gathering of friends is not only informative and helpful, but is also a great gathering of so many Bulldog faithful.”

Conference attendees are also invited to attend the annual awards program Friday night, where MSU will honor some of its most outstanding alumni. Beginning at 5 p.m. in the Hunter Henry Center, the association will host a reception featuring music by Bill Cooke. The dinner and awards presentation will begin at 6 p.m. in Foster Ballroom in Colvard Student Union. Following the presentation of awards, an after dinner party will be held in the Hunter Henry Center, featuring live music by the band Kannawermz. Shuttle buses will run continuously between the Hunter Henry Center and Colvard Student Union for guests.

Registration is open for the 2013 conference until Wednesday, Jan. 22. Click here for full details and a conference schedule. We hope to see many of you on Feb. 1-2 at MSU!
