A letter from National President Camille Scales Young
MSU Alumni Association National President Camille Scales Young reflects on her first six months in service. Young, a 1994 communication management graduate who also earned a master's degree in agriculture and extension education in 1996, is vice president of Cornerstone Government Affairs in Jackson.
Dear MSU Family,
Happy New Year! I certainly hope that you and your families had a wonderful holiday season.
It continues to be my humble privilege to serve as president of the Alumni Association for our beloved Mississippi State University. During 2012, our university experienced growth in student enrollment, annual giving and academic achievements. So much of that success can be attributed to you – our outstanding alumni! Mississippi State continues to be ranked among the best institutions of higher learning in the United States. Our research efforts have brought millions of dollars into university coffers. And, our athletic teams continue to reach new heights. Today and everyday is great day to be a Bulldog!
We are proud to have 93 alumni chapters around the world. Wherever you are, there are MSU graduates in your area. Please participate in the many activities hosted by these chapters throughout the year. From tennis and golf tournaments to young alumni activities to send-off parties, our MSU alumni are active in their communities. Please join them as they support our university and continue to build on our excellent foundation of community activities.
Dr. Jimmy Abraham and our wonderful MSU Alumni Association staff are committed to excellence in all that they pursue. In 2012, they hosted their peers from alumni associations in the Southeastern Conference during APSEC (Alumni Professionals from the Southeastern Conference). The many accolades given by the attendants only verify what we already know – our team is the best!
I hope to see many of you at our Alumni Association awards banquet and leadership conference on February 1-2, 2013. This is our opportunity to recognize our fellow Bulldogs for their outstanding commitment and service to our university. We will recognize our National Alumnus of the Year, College Alumni of the Year and our Outstanding Young Alumnus, among others. I hope you can join us.
Mississippi State University has been a catalyst for service, research and economic development in Mississippi, the United States and across the globe. We look forward to continuing and growing this standard of excellence in all that we do. Please join me in supporting Dr. Mark Keenum and the administration of Mississippi State University as we strive to greater heights.
Thank you for allowing me to serve “Our State,” and thanks for all you do for MSU!
Go State!
Camille Scales Young, ’94, ’96
