Officers named for 2013 Alumni Delegates
The Mississippi State University Alumni Association’s student organization recently elected the 2013 slate of officers. Founded in 1980, Alumni Delegates serve as student liaisons between the university and its alumni. Their purpose is to improve the understanding of the role of the Alumni Association by educating and involving students in activities and events of the association.
The student branch of the Alumni Association has 44 members, and serves the campus and community by participating in a number of events. They serve as the first point of contact for events such as the Alumni Association's football tailgate at home games, the annual awards banquet and leadership conference, class reunions, and events for national and chapter alumni leaders.
Beginning in January, the Delegates will be led by a new group of students. Incoming officers, pictured left to right, include:
-- Casey McGee, vice president of public relations, is a Starkville native majoring in communication with a concentration in public relations. McGee, a sophomore, is the daughter of Kristie and David McGee.
-- Serving as vice president of education is Samuel Bragg of Rienzi. Bragg is a junior civil engineering major, and the son of Jamey and Kevin Bragg.
-- Vijay Kannuthurai, of Hazlehurst, will serve as Delegate president in 2013. The son of Chandra and Thiruvarasu Kannuthurai, he is a junior majoring in biochemistry.
-- Mary Lowry Nemeth will take on the role of secretary. A native of Starkville, she is the daughter of Renee and Mike Nemeth. She is junior majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis in clinical exercise physiology.
“We are very excited to have such a talented group of student leaders for 2013,” stated Dr. Jimmy Abraham, associate vice president for development and alumni and executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. “The Alumni Delegates have served as an integral part of our association for 32 years, and we are grateful for their service and dedication to our university and its more than 124,000 alumni worldwide.”
