Bulldogs battle for the bell in Memphis

The MSU Alumni Association is proud to congratulate the Mississippi State University football team on their invitation to the 2013 AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The Bulldogs will travel to Memphis, Tenn., to "Battle for the Bell" as they take on the Rice University Owls at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

In conjunction with Liberty Bowl festivities, the MSU Alumni Association will host "A Bulldog Gathering" at Alfred's on Beale on Monday, Dec. 30, from 5-10 p.m. Fans are encouraged to join the Alumni Association, along with the Bulldog Sports Radio Network team, as MSU celebrates its fourth consecutive bowl game appearance with this “come and go” dutch treat gathering and live radio broadcast. Alfred's on Beale, located at 197 Beale Street at Third, will be the official headquarters of the Alumni Association to enjoy the Liberty Bowl Preview Show sponsored by Regions Bank and Mississippi Farm Bureau.

Then on gameday, Dec. 31, the Alumni Association encourages fans to attend a Pre-Game Buffet and Tailgate Party from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pipkin Building, adjacent to the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on the west side of the stadium grounds. Tickets are $35 per person, which includes an all-you-can-eat and drink Memphis BBQ buffet with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance and enjoy live music and a pep rally with the MSU cheerleaders. Event tickets may be purchased from the MSU Athletic Ticket Office at or 888-GO-DAWGS.

Next up on Tuesday is The Dawg Walk scheduled for 12:45 p.m. at Tiger Lane, between the Pipkin Building and Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Attendees may leave the pre-game buffet and party at the Pipkin Building and return to the buffet after The Dawg Walk.

While in Memphis, your Alumni Association encourages you to attend the official AutoZone Liberty Bowl events as well. These include:

  • Monday, Dec. 30, at 3 p.m. – Parade on Beale Street followed by the Pep Rally at 5 p.m. 
  • Monday, Dec. 30, at 5 p.m. – The Bash on Beale at Handy Park on Beale Street 
  • Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m. – 55th AutoZone Liberty Bowl kickoff against Rice University.
