Alumni Volunteer Salute – Scott Dean

The MSU Alumni Association has a strong network of alumni chapters led by dedicated individuals. Graduates who serve Mississippi State University in this capacity, include this month’s featured volunteer, Scott Dean of Prattville, Ala.

Scott is a 1993 MSU MBA graduate who earlier earned an undergraduate degree from the University of West Alabama. He currently works for IBM as a Territory Client Representative for Alabama and Mississippi.

Originally from Collinsville, Miss., Scott serves as the president of the Montgomery, Ala., chapter. He has been a dedicated member of the MSU Alumni Association for the past two years, helping his chapter host regular meetings to encourage alumni in the area to become more involved with MSU, and sponsoring annual send-off parties and other local events.

“I tie my personal values to the organizations that I am associated with, like MSU and IBM,” Scott said.

Although Scott now lives in Mississippi’s neighboring state of Alabama, he loyally remains maroon and white.

“In my area of the state of Alabama, we do not have the number of MSU graduates that Alabama, Auburn or Troy universities have living in the state. Therefore, Bulldogs need to stick together,” he explained.

Scott is proud of where MSU is today, and he wants to be a part of its future.

“I take a lot of pride in my MSU Bulldogs and our many accomplishments, and I want others to see what my university has to offer,” he said. “I believe they should join the MSU family because the Bulldog connection is lifelong – not just a four year experience that ends when you graduate.”

Besides his involvement with MSU, Scott is also active in his community. He is a member of the Prattville Running Club, and he is secretary of the Coosa River Paddling Club. Scott also serves on the Board of Advisors for the College of Business at Auburn University at Montgomery, Ala., and he participates in the Big Brother Program.

The MSU Alumni Association thanks Scott for his leadership and dedication to our university. His efforts help promote the Bulldog spirit across the nation.
